It's just another day at the candy shop for Sherlock a quiet afternoon spent more on reading his latest fantasy novel than on selling candy. The kind of day he loves, even if the looming New Year's Eve leaves him feeling nostalgic and a little lonely. But then the last person he ever expected to see walks through the door of his shop, and Sherlock realizes that some things don't fade with time, but only grow stronger.

Very saccharine sweet and about a 1-2 (out of 10) on the heat scale, but being that I'm a fan of Hollis Shiloh books, I don't mind those things at all IF the story is good enough to make you overlook them. IMO, this one was. Cute story about Sherlock, who's moved back to the small town he grew up in to run the shop he's inherited. Basil, the town's star football player turned pro & Sherlock's secret crush, has also decided to move back. What ensues is just baby bunny level adorableness.True enough, there are some editing mistakes, not as egregious as some make it out to be (this coming from a huge stickler for good editing); there's very little background story; and there are only 2 very minor bit players here besides the 2 MCs. But I still found it good and worth the read.

This was a great short story - Basil and Sherlock were perfect for each other - I smiled all the way through )
Always a joy to read a book by Megan, this was no exception. Very nice. Always a pleasure. Recommend it highly.
Good story, kinda short but still good. Will read more books by this author. Very sweet story, good lunch break length story.
I thought the Sherlock, Basil thing was going to go somewhere but it never did. The story meandered a bit and left on a hopeful note.
I really liked this ultra short little M/M romance and its HEA but... I feel that, in dealing with subtle, difficult themes such as other people's expectations as opposed to one's own wishes; past teen crushes that come back to torment adults that suddenly feel more vulnerable than they thought they were; insecurities about one's choices that necessarily strike time and time again, a careful watercolour is needed.
What we have here is an oil, pretty for sure but a little too obvious, garish...
P.S. further editing to remove some mistakes would not have hurt.
I'm not the biggest fan of 'realistic' fiction since I read to escape reality and enjoy a heavy dose of fantasy in my literature!
That being said this is a short, cute, and happy little short and if you like the idea of reunited missed connections please give this one a read!
This would be a great prequel for a full length novel. It was a sweet introduction to Sherlock and Basil, but that's really all it was. We get a quick peek into Sherlock's past and how he came to this point in his life, and an even quicker look into Basil's life. There's definite potential there for a nice romance, but this was just a tease! And by tease I mean I'd like more!
